best anti virus software

Postby pooja d. » Sat Sep 26, 2009 5:56 pm

I am running XP & have always used Norton Anti-Virus. Recently it started "acting up", wanting to do a full system scan, which I did. But it was constantly trying to do this & there was always an error message on my task bat saying I needed to do this. When I did do it, it took over 4 hours
as it did my main drive, a spare internal drive & my external.

I removed it with the intent of re-installing. But after it was gone, I couldn't believe how much faster everything was running without Norton. So my question is, does anyone know of a GOOD anti-virus (not McAfee)? I don't care if I have to buy it. I just don't want Norton anymore & will also
remove it from my laptop.

i always come across these kind of posts and being and Ethical Hacker i believe i can throw a light on this post and
give people a useful knowledge. Before you purchase any Anti-Virus you must know we shouldn't be using ANTI-VIRUS, but a SECURITY SUIT (that has everything like anti-virus, anti-worm, anti-spam, anti-dialer, anti-phishing, anti-keylogger, anti-rootikits, stream scan, firewall, at least an IDS, both signature and heuristic based scan) and you must look first into something called ZERO DAY ATTACK, this simply means, if a new virus is released, then within the most least time who gives you a solution and cure for the new virus in the form of updates. and the Second most important factor is the PC performance. So i mention a list of the best anti-viruses in regards wtih ZERO DAY ATTACK, better pc performance, and the best security provided. the list will include the name of the anti-virus and the timing defining in how much time you get the solution for the new viruses or threats. (least time is the best time)

Kaspersky -- 1hr 12min
Bitdefender -- 2hr 48mins
Quick Heal -- 2hrs 52mins
Panda Security -- 4hrs 24mins
Sophos -- 4hrs 37mins
Eset NOD 32 -- 11hrs 53mins
McAffee -- 14hrs 2mins
Fsecure -- 15hrs 44mins

Guys, sorry to say but Norton doenst even make to the top ten list in the International listing of the Anti-viruses. seen a post that mentions NOD32 for the best paid one, but you must know NOD32 uses heuristic scan which also starts giving you a fake warning for files those are NOT viruses, which shouldnt again be happening.

Thanks and Regards
