Tips to maintain Diabetis
1. People who hav diabetis & using medication wheather it is pills or insulin can take a fruits (suggested for them....like guava,apple,pear,papaya&orange)apx 100gm/day if their blood suger levels r normal or under control. BUT IT WILL BE BENEFICIAL FOR THEM IF THEY TAKE THAT AMT OF FRUIT (only 1time/day)ALONG OR AFT BREAKFAST OR LUNCH OR DINNER i.e;whenever they r using pill or insulin.
The reason is normally blood suger levels will b increased aft taking fruits.if we take fruit like that(medicine+DIET+fruit),at time, the pills or insulin we r using bfore or aft diet will reduce or control the blood suger levels which is increasing due to fruit consumption.
If the fruit is taken at other timings like when u r not taking pills or insulin (mid afternoon or mid morning or bed time) may results into suger levels under control.
Consume fruit along with peel.do not take in juice form whether it is with out suger.
5.when ever u feel hungry u can nicely hav a veg salad or thin butter milk or milk with out suger.
2.FENUGREEK SEEDS (methi)- are very usefull for diabetic people in reducing blood suger levels.recommended amount is 3to 4 teaspoons(25 gms)/day , u can distribute this amt into 2 or three parts in breakfast,lunch&dinner i.e; while having large meals.u can hav it as seeds, sprouted or powdered like mixing in batter or dough while prep idlies,dosas,rotis or in sambar too.
Fenugreek seeds contains a mucilaginous fibre & TRIGONELLINE-an alkaloid, which redusesblood suger levels.
Fenugreek seed powder also lowers levels of serum lipids such as cholesterol & triglycerides.
But it's only a supportive therapy,usual anti diabetic treatment shd b continued.
3.Disribute a wide range of leafy veg in ur days menu like in soups,rotis etc,.
4..Raw Veg Salads must b itroduced while having large meals.salads are rich in fibre(which reduces blood suger levels as well as cholesterol)& vitamins & minerals.Not only that raw veg take much time to digest,so that the suger enters into blood slowly.Not only that the salads give bulk feel inspite of less quantity meal.
